TSI Employee Spotlight: Michael Buckley

Starting his journey as a humble desktop technician, Michael has worked his way up to Interim IT Director, where he has developed expertise in developing IT strategies and managing key cyber security projects.

Outside of work, Michael enjoys exploring new activities that keep him physically active and mentally sharp, always seeking fresh challenges for both his mind and body while simultaneously trying not to stress so much on the little things.

1. Tell us what inspired you to get into the IT/cyber-security industry?

Cyber security is here to stay, and it was another opportunity to challenge myself in a career space I’ve never been a part of.

2. Describe yourself in a couple of words

• Motivated
• Energetic

3. How do you gauge success? What is your favorite part of working within the SMB space?

I gauge success based on how I inspire others. My favorite part is that there is something different every day which gives me the opportunity to learn about many different technologies.

4. What are some of your hobbies outside of work?

Hunting, fishing, water skiing, and golf are all things I love.

5. What’s your favorite food?

Tacos.

6. What celebrity or historical figure- past or present- would you like to meet over a cup of coffee and why?

Tiger Woods. It’d be great to ask him how he managed to overcome so much adversity without giving up.

7. What is something that most people don’t know about you?

I received a scholarship to play college baseball.

8. What are your goals for the future, both personally and professionally?

Personally – I would like to stay as healthy as I am now, 48 and taking no medication. Professionally – I would like to earn my way up through the ranks all the way up to CIO. Please tell Brian Downey I’m not coming for his job, but he does have to retire at some point!! LOL
