TSI Employee Spotlight: Logan Abell
An active Air Force veteran with over six years of service as a Cyber Systems Operator, Logan has spent time defending critical IT environments within the DoD and the Department of Health. His background includes Network Design, System Administration, Compliance Integration, and Virtualization. Further enriching his credentials is a certification in CompTIA Security+ and a Cybersecurity degree from Champlain College, grounding his hands-on experience with a solid academic foundation.
Off the clock, Logan is a tinkerer at heart, but he never misses a chance to laugh with his wife or create lasting memories with family.
1. Tell us what inspired you to get into the IT/cyber-security industry?
Ever since I was a child, I have always had a passion for technology and computers. Establishing a career in IT was my way of deepening my knowledge and understanding about a hobby and turning it into a profession.
2. Describe yourself in 3 words
- Learn
- Laugh
- Listen
3. How do you gauge success? What is your favorite part of working within the SMB space?
Many people have heard the saying that the purpose of life is happiness. However, happiness is a feeling that can ebb and flow with time. Rather that searching for happiness, I prefer to strive for satisfaction. Happiness is a momentary experience that arises spontaneously, while life satisfaction is a long-term feeling based on achieving life-long goals.
To me, working in the SMB space allows me to create a positive impact on the technological backbone of hard-working Americans, entrepreneurs, and achievers. Our work at TSI is more than just fixing IT problems. Rather, our services help to provide sustained operational excellence that improves the success and satisfaction of our partners.
4. What are some of your hobbies outside of work?
I am a tinkerer at heart, which often leads me to exploring new concepts and ideas that lead to something I can create. I often approach this through 3D printing or testing new technologies and applications in my home lab. In the winter, I like spending my weekends skiing with my family or playing board games during an “Abell Family Fun Night”. In the warmer months, I enjoy sitting by a fire, grilling, and playing corn hole with my friends and family.
5. What’s your favorite food?
Pizza.
6. What is your favorite quote and why?
“When you come to a fork in the road, take it.” – Yogi Berra
To me, this quote suggests that when you are faced with a decision, you should confidently choose a path and proceed. What matters most is the decision to actively choose and move forward. It also implies that life is unpredictable and often, the choices we make might lead to unexpected outcomes, regardless of the path chosen. Therefore, the importance lies in making a decision and embracing wherever it leads.
7. What celebrity or historical figure- past or present- would you like to meet over a cup of coffee and why?
It would be an eye-opening experience to sit down with Nikola Tesla. Tesla was a visionary whose insights and ideas were often far ahead of his time. His life has many untold stories that would be interesting to hear and discuss today.
8. What is something that most people don’t know about you?
I enjoy solving Rubik’s cubes.
