TSI Employee Spotlight: Steven Nelson
Steve Nelson is TSI’s Helpdesk Team Lead. Steve began his career with TSI as a field engineer, supporting many of our clients while out on the road. He now supervises and assists on the day-to-day ticketing system with the helpdesk team.
1. Tell us what inspired you to get into the IT/cyber-security industry?
I’ve always loved learning how things work, and that included computers and electronics, especially. Luckily for me, curiosity turned into a career that brought me here today.
2. Describe yourself in three words

3. How do you gauge success? What is your favorite part of working within the SMB space?
To me, success is to know that you’ve made a positive impact, whether it’s helping someone on your team or making a client happy with the results of your work.
4. What are some of your hobbies outside of work?
Fishing, Kayaking, Gardening, Hiking – I love the outdoors.
5. What’s your favorite food?
Spaghetti Carbonara.
6. What is your favorite quote and why?

It’s a great daily reminder to make the most of every day and play with the hand you’re dealt in life.
7. What celebrity or historical figure- past or present- would you like to meet over a cup of coffee and why?
Danny DeVito – huge fan, I think he steals the show in every role he takes. Would definitely be a great conversation.
8. What is something that most people don’t know about you?
For most of my teens, I was a drummer in a heavy metal band, I have the tinnitus to prove it!
