TSI Employee Spotlight: Kathy Caroon
We’re extremely excited to welcome back Kathy Carron! Kathy is returning to TSI after about a year and a half break. During that time, she worked as a Salesforce CRM Administrator as well as an Account Manager. Kathy is from the Worcester area and has been in the IT industry for about 8 years. Kathy is looking forward to re-entering TSI and meeting her TSI clients! In the past, her commitment to customer service, building strong relationships with clients, and her enthusiasm to drive results have proven to be an extremely valuable asset to the TSI team. Read on to find out more about her.
1. Tell us what inspired you to get into the IT/cyber-security industry?
I have always enjoyed all things related to technology way back when the internet began and we connected via modems! I remember learning a bit about computers back then and was proud of myself the first time I upgraded the RAM on one of my PC’s. A friend I used to work with mentioned that there was an opening at TSI and he thought I would be a good fit for it. He was TSI’s Director of IT at the time. I learned a lot about the products and services that TSI offers and still enjoy learning about technology and how it can help our clients protect their businesses.
2. Describe yourself in 3 words
- Insightful
- Creative
- Resourceful
3. How do you gauge success? What is your favorite part of working within the SMB space?
Success means that I have done everything I can to support my clients to ensure they are happy, and I have received feedback from them that I am doing a great job on their behalf. I can gauge that I am successful at this by reviewing customer surveys and asking for their feedback during meetings. When we get a new client referred to us from an existing client based on our exceptional service that is the best! I like working in the SMB space because I feel I can build relationships better with the clients and all levels of their management versus at a large company where that is more difficult to do.
4. What are some of your hobbies outside of work?
Everyone who knows me would say that my favorite hobby is spending time with my Shi Tzu dog Teddy. I love traveling with my daughter as well as anything wellness-related- a couple of things right now I am into are Zumba and road cycling and I am just learning pickleball which is so fun.
5. What’s your favorite food?
Well, my weakness is ice cream but I have to limit that obviously because of the ridiculously high calories! So, I balance it out with veggies. At the moment, I am on a garlic-roasted broccoli kick that I season with Tajin which is a lemony spice. It is delicious as a snack or a side dish!
6. What is your favorite quote and why?
“Success is no accident. It is hard work, perseverance, learning, studying, sacrifice and most of all, love of what you are doing or learning to do.” — Pele, Brazilian soccer player. During the pandemic, I took self-led training online to learn how to become a Salesforce Administrator. Since then, I gained several other Salesforce certifications such as AWS Certified Cloud Practitioner and Google Data Analytics. I like that quote because it reminds me that I can do (and learn) anything if I put my mind to it.
7. What celebrity or historical figure- past or present- would you like to meet over a cup of coffee and why?
I would like to meet scientist David Sinclair, who is the author of the book “Lifespan: Why We Age―and Why We Don’t Have To”. He studies aging and is on the frontlines of the anti-aging research at the Sinclair Lab at Harvard Medical School where they have discovered new “vitality” genes. The book is about longevity and Sinclair believes that aging is a disease that is treatable! However, if David is not available I would like to meet Jason Bateman just because he is so likable and funny.
8. What is something that most people don’t know about you?
I am over obsessed with self-help, self-development podcast and books.
