More often than ever, we are hearing about large-scale ransomware attacks with devastating effects. Today, we wanted to bring to your attention a recent password and credentials leak which is being described as the largest breach in history. This breach has leaked over 3.2 billion passwords and includes 26 million compromised account log-in credentials for a number of popular sites including Apple, Amazon, Facebook and Netflix.<\/p>\n

It is of the utmost importance that you encourage your organization\u2019s users to verify if they\u2019ve been impacted by this breach and perform the following steps to minimize the breach\u2019s impact:<\/p>\n

  1. Immediately change your passwords in accordance with industry best practices.<\/li>\n
  2. Encourage your team to employ a higher degree of security awareness.<\/li>\n
  3. Check https:\/\/haveibeenpwned.com\/<\/a> to determine if and where their credentials may have been compromised.<\/li>\n
  4. Remind them we\u2019re here to help verify the validity of any questionable emails requesting any personal\/business information.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    There is no doubt that these types of cyber incidents are becoming more prevalent, so it\u2019s absolutely critical that you maintain a high degree of awareness of these incidents and ensure you have the basic safeguards in place to address them. Although this may not apply to your organization, we strongly encourage that if you do not have- at a very minimum- MFA, Networking Security Monitoring & Alerting (SIEM) or End User Security Awareness training<\/b> services in place today, that you speak to an MSP to implement those solutions as soon as possible.
